Week 2

I can't believe it's only week 2.  It was a much better week!!  I think we started adjusting to the routine and I have been trying out different things to help Samuel with his work.  Giving him the power to pick what to do first, last and in between has been a huge help.  He's even wanted to do more of the letter sound work than I have required.  We ended our week with a half day!!  We worked hard to get everything done before lunch so we could spend the afternoon in the pool.  It was a hot, hot, hot day and we got to have Grandma Barb over to swim at my parents' house.  Now we get to enjoy a long weekend!!

Nathan's Week:
We studies some seeds with a magnifying glass.

We made a Creation book:

We counted seeds:

So proud of his finished book:

Finally, making thumbprint flowers for "g is for garden".  He loves "doing school" and sometimes is mad when it's over so I've started filing some worksheets for him to color, paint, write on while I work with Samuel.

Again, Samuel had a much better week.  I think it will only get better!!  Here he is making a pattern with Batman and Robin pictures:

Working on our number of the day with his trusty dog as a helper:

Making a pattern with his snack:

Studying leaf litter:

Shaking up soil and water to see the layers form:

Hunter and Lily's Week:

Both of our science experiments worked this week so that was pretty exciting.  Here we made light bend:

And here we made light split into colors:

Otherwise, we learned about Cain, Abel and Noah.  We worked hard this week--it's a lot more work as a whole than last year but I think it's good!!  Here they are listening to a biography of Vivaldi and coloring a sheet.  I liked their different outfits--Hunter in pajama shorts and Lily dressed up in a fancy dress with a crown and jewelry.  We're pretty lax on dress code.

Just a couple pictures of everyone working at the same time.  Nathan has a puppet, Samuel is working on a pattern animal, Lily is reading her book and Hunter is over on the couch reading.  It's so nice to see everyone being productive at once!!!  :)
