Birthday Week

Nathan learned about "B for Boat" this week.

Samuel worked hard this week.  I think he's showing progress, slowly but steadily.

The kids all joined in to watch the Veggie Tale version of Jericho's wall falling down after we read about that in the Bible for school.  Hunter and Lily learned about some other ancient civilizations this week as we get ready to turn our focus away from Egypt, finally!  :)

We took Friday off for my birthday celebration to start.  We had a lot of fun eating out and shopping, including getting groceries but it's all fun when it's a special day.  On my actual birthday, today, we got up early to go to Pinewood Derby.  The boys had a lot of fun racing their cars!!

Later, we enjoyed lunch and my special cake.  This was dark chocolate with toasted marshmallow filling and a raspberry buttercream frosting.  Yum.

Working Hard

This week, Nathan learned about 'N for Name'.  I made him a puzzle with his picture and letters to spell his name.  He liked that quite a bit!

Samuel managed to finish his work this week.  It's definitely not his favorite time of day but I try to make it as quick and painless as possible.  He doesn't like anything I think is "fun"--he wants to get in and out.  :)

Ignore the TV party sign on the white board--that was a prank Hunter pulled on his siblings.  They were disappointed!!  We finally found a good rhythm with English lessons--switching their grade levels helped a lot because they are just at different levels.

We had a reward day this week.  The kids all finished up their sticker charts so we had a short day of school with a pizza/movie party in the afternoon.  It was a lot of fun and a nice change up for us.  We've been working hard otherwise!

Back to School

Getting back to the school routine felt like the 1st day of school all over again.  In fact, Lily asked what grade they were in now.  Ha!  It was a great, long break but it is time to get back to work.  Unfortunately, it was busy and exhausting (for me) so taking pictures got forgotten.  Here's what I do have:

Nathan creating a sunset for his cactus (D for desert this week).

Samuel playing Bingo to review the short vowel sounds.

Hunter and Lily got back on track with their work.  I can't keep up with Lily's reading--she finishes books before I realize it and my goal to have her fill out her book report notebook is behind.  That's not bad, though.  :)  Hopefully, I'll remember to use the camera more next week.
