Week 16

I only took 1 picture last week!  I guess that goes to show our busyness.  We worked hard to finish up chapters, letters, activities, etc. so we could start Christmas-based work this week.  We're still reading our read aloud and Lily is still finishing up her book but, otherwise, we are at a good stopping point!  It's so nice to wind down for Christmas break!!

Week 15

We started our week back at school with a field trip.  We rode the city bus to the ground transportation center and then walked to the library.  Waiting for the bus was a cold experience!!  Otherwise, the kids seemed to enjoy it (Samuel didn't care for the ride but he was still coughing so I think that was the issue.).

At the library...

Nathan studied U for Us, which included a study on senses.  This day he was supposed to feel mystery objects but his brothers did it for him--he was not into it!!  :)

He's learning to read but he doesn't seem to enjoy it yet!

Twice this week, he was asleep by the time the school day was over.  He missed our read aloud both days.  We are loving this book but it's pretty sad (A Family Apart).

Samuel started some Explode the Code online using the ipad.  He didn't care to be in another picture.

His math involved the scale this week and he really enjoyed that!

Science involved learning about the food pyramid, which I'm not sure is even a thing anymore?!  But we filled in the info about the different food groups, anyway.

The kids filled their sticker charts and got their prize again!

The weekend was time for Christmas cookie baking!

One more week of regular school, one week of Christmas based school and then it's Christmas break!!

Week 14

This week was Thanksgiving week so we didn't do too much schoolwork.  We decorated our Christmas tree:

We learned more about Thanksgiving and played Native American games:

Samuel had therapy:

My Mom, sister and I made holiday wreaths:

Finally, it was Thanksgiving!  The twins got to go with Brian to the Kreger meal.

I stayed home with these two sickies.  Nathan woke up with croup and Samuel was not feeling too great with his sore throat.  Thankfully, we got another chance on Friday and we got to go to Thanksgiving at the PJ's.

Brian spent Saturday with the kids while I went to a baby shower.  They returned cans, got pizza, played pool and did some nature activities.  :)

We are ready to get back to regular schedules for the next few weeks.  Christmas break will be coming before we know it!!

Week 13

Nathan finished up T for Turtle this week.  He learned that "we don't quit, we persevere!" and he talks about it all the time now!  :)

In science, we are doing a nutrition unit.  The kids were testing food for starch in this activity:

We also tested food for fat:

One day this week, we enjoyed some hot cocoa with school:

Hunter and Lily finished up their Marion classes for the calendar year.  Hunter and I shopped Wal-Mart while we waited on Lily.

The excitement of a snow storm!!!!

Lily went to see her cousin, Lainey, in The Nutcracker with another cousin, Kathryn.  This is good timing because we just started learning about Tchaikovsky in our music lesson for the big kids.

Week 12

This was a rough week with a sickness invading the house and messing up plans!  Here's what we did accomplish:

Making amusement parks maps, inspired by our digestive system:

Our supervising teacher thought Samuel should start some Explode the Code books while we wait to get him more involved in Barton so we started that this week.  He loves the pictures because he can add to them!

Lily all set up for a sick day!  :)

Hunter passed Barton Level 2 and got his prize!

Thankfully, everyone was feeling great for the twins' birthday on Friday.  Brian had the day off and we celebrated all.day.long.  :)

Here's to a new, healthy week!!

Week 11

We had a busy school week and somehow I missed out on taking a lot of pictures.

Nathan finished up the letter 'N'.  This is the craft that he asked, "Is this a joke?" when I told him what we were going to do.  :)

All the kids made bird nests to eat:

School on the couch!

Samuel working hard on math:

Science experiments:

Tricorn hats, in honor or George Washington:

Hunter and I spending some time together after art:

Our weekend included a trip to the Festival of Trees!!
