Week 24

On Monday, we had to take a day off of school because our schoolroom looked like this (due to bedroom redecorating):

Instead, we went to Dunkin' Donuts...

...and Toys R Us to spend Samuel's birthday money.  :)

We also had a dental appointment Tuesday so the week was off to a busy start.  However, we did accomplish our week's worth of work.  The twins partnered up for their writing course:

Lily started her 2 classes at homeschool building.  One is on Hawaii so she's showing off her lei:

Nathan learned about I--we had ice cream and built an igloo in the shape of an 'I' and read about insects.  Here he is decorating a grasshopper with 3 different colors because there are 3 parts to the body.  These Eric Carle books are amazing, by the way--he was so surprised that they made noise at the end.  :)

He also made a click beetle:

Next week is even busier so I'm off to make our weekly plans--how will we fit it all in??

Week 23

Not surprisingly, Nathan learned about 'V' for Valentine this week!

'V' was for volcano, too, so everyone got to explore with baking soda and vinegar.

I picked up a microscope at a used store and it's been a popular item around here.

Samuel's birthday toys made free time a little bit more cooperative this week.

In Konos, we talked about horses, Cowboys and the Pony Express. We designed our own cow brands:

We also made our own Pony Express wanted posters:

Valentine's Day meant surprises for the kids before we took them to my parents for the day/night.

Week 22...Happy Birthday Samuel!

This week was another short one because we took Monday off for Samuel's birthday--more on that later.  We did get schoolwork done and even got through our 100th day of school!

Samuel reading his flipbook:

Nathan got a surprise for the letter 'K'--a locked house with keys.  All the kids loved it!

Nathan watercoloring a kite:

Hunter had to create a floor plan for his reading this week.  We'll be reading a story that includes info on a floor plan so the curriculum has him learning what one is first.  Loving All About Reading 3!!

These 2 are getting along!  Bonding over iPad time.  :)

For Konos, we focused on crime and punishment.  So, we made some detective hats:

Studied our fingerprints:

And practiced being sketch artists:

The final day we switched focus to disobedience, specifically the story of Jonah.  We played 'pin Jonah on the whale' after reading the Bible passage.  :)

Lily continued with play practice.  This is the shirt from her play--she'll be a playing card:

Samuel's Birthday!!  He wasn't sure he was feeling the greatest that day so he just sat at Playstation before lunch and played afterward.

We stopped at Grandma Barb's and Papa Lee's house afterward:

Then we headed home for presents and cards.  You can see he has his piggy bank close by for cards.  Ha!  He knows Great-Grandma Hill and Aunt Nikki send money.

Unfortunately, by Wednesday, Samuel was sick.  Maybe germs from the Playstation?

On Sunday, we celebrated his birthday at my parents' house.  A nice week-long celebration of turning 8!!!!!

Week 21

This was a short week! We took Monday off to celebrate my birthday. We saw a movie:

And we ate at The Outback:

For school, Nathan learned about 'Q':

I can barely remember the rest of the week. It went too fast! This weekend, Hunter had pinewood derby and got 2nd place:

And Sunday we got 11 inches of snow!!!

Short week again this week but I'll try to take more pics!!
