Easter and Oils

Easter

The whole house was up bright and early Easter morning!!  The kids explored their Easter baskets and then we headed outside. We had a lot of fun with some silly string and probably woke the neighbors.  :)

We got all dressed up and headed out to my parents' house.  Everyone looked so nice!!! And what a nice day--boys were able to wear shorts and Lily didn't need her jacket.

Some cousin love.  I have a few funny outtakes of this picture.  It was rough getting this one.  :)

The massive egg hunt was before lunch!  It was nice enough to hide some outside--what a treat!

Easter egg goodies:

We had plenty of food to eat!!!!  Nathan's not in this because he wanted to eat downstairs by himself.  :)

After supper, we ran to Toys R Us to use the gift cards they got from their Grandparents.  I love this picture--ha ha ha!  Is Kathryn terrified of Nathan's driving???

Oils

I recently joined in with some other Moms who use doTerra oils and have blogs.  Some of those ladies are doing a blog tour about oils this month.  Following this link will lead you to more information!

Easter Week

We had a four day school week this week.  It was definitely a count down to some time off and some holiday fun.

We got summer clothes bins out and the kids were thrilled even though it was still chilly outside.  I let them wear whatever because we weren't going anywhere.  :)

Nathan actually asked to do some work this week and I was prepared!  I printed off a Frozen Pre-K pack so he worked on some of those sheets.

Friday, we were off school and that evening we went to our first Passover.  In our MFW curriculum this year, we are supposed to be celebrating Biblical feasts.  We did a few at the beginning of the school year and then we haven't had any for some time.  Being able to learn about Passover in a group was too good to pass up!  This is just us walking to the house hosting Passover:

We filled up a whole table by ourselves.  :)  The kids did a fantastic job listening and participating.  Lily got to light the candles and do the reading (there's a child's part).  Samuel found the Afikomen and sold it back for a prize--a movie and candy to share.  :)  They even joined in when it was time to eat the parsley dipped in salt water, the matzah dipped in horseradish (it definitely brought tears to Nathan's eyes, as it's supposed to) and then matzah dipped in charoset, which was a hit with all of us!

Saturday, we got busy cleaning and getting ready for Sunday.  We, of course, took time to dye Easter eggs, though!

We can't wait to celebrate Easter tomorrow!  We'll be taking Monday off of school to recover from the big day.  Back to school on Tuesday with only 5 weeks left!

Spring Weather

Samuel worked on reviewing some sight words this week.  He does well with letter sounds and putting them together to read words but once we introduce sentences, he acts like he forgot it all.  We just keep at it!  He's doing really well with this attitude and participating in school and he told my Mom some positive things about school so that was so nice to hear.

Hunter started multiplication this week and he's been very adamant that he hates it but his math introduces it gently and I think he's finding it's not that bad.  He is finishing a book on the Titanic, which he had never heard of before this book.  It was kind of funny/sad because I read the 1st chapter with him and the book said that the passengers were traveling from England to America and Hunter said, "They're really going to like it here.".  I didn't tell him that most wouldn't make it.

Lily has been taking time off of her regular math to drill those multiplication facts.  She hates it (which is probably why Hunter thinks he hates it) but my supervising teacher has stressed the importance of getting the math facts down before moving forward.  In reading, I can't even pretend to assign her books--she has a stack she wants to read so I just go with it.

Nathan and I didn't do much preschool-type work this week.  I did work on cutting with him but it was terrifying.  A work in progress...  :)

Otherwise, we accomplished the usual in school and then spent a lot of time outside this week.  Spring weather has arrived--not sure how long it will last?!  We enjoyed a fire in the fire pit this week and cooked hot dogs and marshmallows for supper over it.  :)

*Nathan is really into pajama pants so they go with everything*

Samuel finally got onto the bike--he's really been looking forward to this!

I love this picture of Samuel bonding with the cat.  :)

This week, we have a short week since we'll be taking Good Friday off.  There's really nothing too exciting happening in school and we all just get our work done to move on with other things.  I think we're all antsy now that spring is here!!

Welcome April

We've fallen into a pretty consistent school pattern and we are just moving right along toward the end of the school year.  It's exciting!

Hunter and Lily worked on drawing people in art this week.
I've enjoyed this art curriculum a lot--I think Hunter has, too.

This was Nathan's last week of preschool curriculum.  We'll throw some other activities and crafts in when he insists on school.  Otherwise, I'm good with letting him be done since I don't usually do a 3 year old preschool, anyway.  We learned about U for Up and did some sun/moon/stars craft.  He's painting the moon with a mix of shaving cream and glue here--this was a hit.  All the kids loved to touch the puffy moon he made.  :)

How happy is this face??  Ha!  He's all dressed up in a Halloween costume for school.  :)  We played some games with reading and worked on a big coloring project for math--you had to solve the problem to figure out the color.  He's doing well and I'm feeling good about what we are using.

On Friday, we had a fun sleepover planned.  It was easy and fun, actually.  A good way to end our week of hard work and start the weekend!
