Week 16

Samuel took this picture of the cat doing Lily’s schoolwork: 🤣

Working on our art project. The homeschool table is gone for the month so we tried TV trays this day and just sitting on the floor the next day.

On Monday we visited the central fire station downtown. It was very interesting! Nathan is the only one who let me take a pic of him...

Nathan learning about a dozen:

Our daily Christmas book is going well! Nathan opened this book and decided to read it out loud by himself! He did great!!!!

Still no computer so this may look funny but it’s hard to figure out this app!!

Week 15

My computer is currently dead so I downloaded an app to see how blogging goes from here.

Just a cute pic of cuddling with Cinders:

Monday, we rode a school bus to the landfill to learn more about recycling and waste. The kids loved the bus most, though! Ha!

Nathan reading and marking sentences:

Samuel had review sheets in math:

Art is Christmas-themed until break starts!!

Science experiments:

We watched my niece Friday and she was interested in Samuel’s spelling city games:

Our countdown to Christmas began. We are unwrapping a book each night!

Week 14 + Thanksgiving

We finished our current read aloud, Carry On, Mr. Bowditch, which was my favorite book by far!  It was very inspiring.  To wrap up the book, the kids packed suitcases with items Nathaniel Bowditch might take with him on a trip.

Nathan started some geometry this week:

Hunter is working on spelling with Barton tiles on the ipad app:

Map work by the Christmas tree:

In history, we read about different jobs available in Colonial times and the kids drew pictures of their choice.  Samuel didn't want me to take a pic but he chose blacksmith.

Nathan chose hatter:

Hunter chose a glass blower:

Lily chose cobbler:

We started science experiments on force.  Samuel is getting ready to drop the clay rod and the iron rod at the same time to see if weight makes a difference on speed of landing (it doesn't).

Thankul turkeys for a classic art project:

The kids decorated the tree to start off Thanksgiving break:

We had two full days of thanksgiving and I didn't get many pics.  Here are the kids crafting, though:

We are in the countdown to Christmas break now!!

Week 13

Monday was the twins' birthday so we spent a day eating, watching Thor and shopping!  It was a lot of fun!  It's hard to believe they are 14.

Unfortunately, we are still really struggling with illness here.  We've been sick for a month, I think.  Lily was the last child to get it and she spent a lot of time resting and not doing homeschool!

The boys did do some school but we still ended up taking one unplanned day off.  We have a couple days next week to finish things up before Thanksgiving break.

We are moving on to Christmas prep--the boys helped me carry all the tubs up and I got it all put out except the big tree.  The cat is having fun--if you can spot her in the picture below.  :)

Week 12

We finally got back to art this week!

School-approved apps are always a hit!

Science experiments with sound were wrapped up this week!

The back of our art projects were used for some printing press practice--placing the words backwards so they'd show up the right way on paper!

We worked together to make a colonial primer:

Halloween & Week 11

I was the one sick this week!  Brian took over homeschooling duties on Monday because I had strep and was pretty miserable.

Tuesday was a school holiday because it was Halloween!

I was feeling a bit better so walked for a block before resting.

Back to a regular school schedule on Wednesday!
Science experiments with sound:

Brian cleaned out the garden beds and Nathan brought in his carrots.  The cat was thrilled!
