Week 21

This week was a short one because it was my birthday on Monday!  We always take the day off of school (and work for Brian) to celebrate together.  It was a long day but fun!

I didn't do a good job on pictures this week and only have Kindergarten photos.  They are the easiest to take because there's so many projects!!
We finished the letter O with a watercolor painting:

I got a new app for some handwriting help for Nathan because it's a struggle.  He was amazed at how easy it made letter writing!

Lily started play practice this week so after gymnastics, I took the boys to Wal-Mart to kill time while we waited.  It was too much for Nathan!!

Another short week ahead because of Samuel's birthday--plus I'm hoping for a snow day!  :)

Week 20

Hunter got an art kit for Christmas and has enjoyed sharing his drawings.

Nathan is concentrating pretty hard on making a square from 8 rectangles.  We started on O for Octopus this week.

We also did some sound review and he decided to stay warm by wearing his coat--otherwise he's just in his undies.  Ha!

It must have been a cold week because the cat sought warmth under the covers.  :)

We continued state studies and our unit on the respiratory system for the big kids:

Week 19

Nathan finished up D for Dino this week.  He did really well reading his words this week so I have hope reading might come a little easier to him.  We'll see!
We made some play dough dinosaurs:

He also dug for dinosaur fossils:

Samuel and I worked on the idea of reflections and copies in math.  This math does things differently but it's a huge hit so far!

We had fun with our state studies this week.  We made peach cobbler in honor of Georgia:

Only 1 day this week gave the chance to sleep in and have a pajama day.  We were all excited, but the cat enjoyed it the most! (Hunter took this picture, fyi.)

Week 18

Back to school!  We started back Monday with our new read aloud (Mr. Popper's Penguins) and then on Tuesday, Lily started her music class and we had a field trip.  So, Wednesday, we finally started up at home with all our usual subjects.  It's a busy month!

Nathan is on 'D' and is enjoying getting back to his Kindergarten work.

Samuel is still loving all his work, including doing some reading on the ipad.

We started our state studies this week.  It's almost a new state per day so we aren't lingering!  We are using a US cookbook to enjoy some foods from each state. This was gingerbread for Delaware.

We made liberty bells for Pennsylvania.

Our field trip was to Barnes and Noble.  The kids loved it!!

In other news, Lily got her bottom braces on so she's so happy to get the springs out and get to choose more than one color to accessorize with!  :)

Week 17 +Christmas Break!!

Our last week of school involved a field trip to Brucemore:

And tons of fun Christmas-themed activities, including melting candy canes, drawing the Christmas story, exploding Peeps, coloring and making Christmas light lamps (lava lamps):

On our time off, we did a lot of baking:

Christmas Eve fun...making pizzas, making gingerbread houses, opening presents, church and we ate out supper for the 1st time on Christmas Eve!

Lots of fun, lots of play time, and lots of laziness so transitioning back to regular life could be tough!!
