Week 25

This week, we started a yummy model of the heart.  We didn't finish it yet so it won't be edible by the time we are done!!

We also did some imagining about how hard it would be to pick cotton seeds out after a long day in the fields.  This was to appreciate the invention of the cotton gin.

Samuel worked on doubling numbers:

The twins painted the clay pots they made in their pottery class:

We had a couple field trips this week.  One was bowling:

The next was Happy Joe's Pizza:

We stopped at Hobby Lobby after our Happy Joe's field trip because it's always a fun place!

Friday night, Lily and Lainey went to the girls' event at our church.  It was sleepover-themed and they had a great time!!

Week 24

Nathan worked on I for Insect this week.  We kept pretty busy counting "ants":

Painting ladybugs:

And watching our harvester ants set up their ant hill home:

Meanwhile, Lily is still trying to recover from her illness:

We visited Papa PJ in the hospital:

The twins started clay pots for art and we were way too early so spent some time in the homeschool library...lots of animals and toys to keep the kids busy!

Finally, we enjoyed time with Brian while he recovered from working overtime:

Busy times but we are making good progress in our schoolwork!

Week 23

Oldest and youngest working on different kinds of handwriting together.  :)

Samuel and I did some math games as an assessment this week.

We had red water beads (red blood cells), white balls (white blood cells) and red foam (platelets) to help us learn more about blood in science.

Nathan did some experimenting in science to see what dissolves in water.

Our week was interrupted with illness.  Lily enjoyed a Valentine party at church but was sick that night and is still recovering.  :(

Presents ready for Valentine's Day!

I couldn't resist these matching shirts for the boys!

Lily is still not feeling great but modeled her spring outfit I bought her.  :)

Lily's going to get some more rest time this week but I'm hoping she's up for a little work, too!

Week 22

The kids played in the snow at Grandma Barb's house--they had to enjoy the snow while it lasted!!

Samuel had a birthday this week so we had a day off of school.  We went to the Play Station to burn off energy:

Gymnastics is every week but this is the 1st week they brought the rope out!

Back to schoolwork!

Nathan likes to collect a lot of toys to do school with him:

Hunter is using "finger spelling" in our Barton program to help him spell words.  He rarely misses a word this way!

Lily cuddled up for her writing DVD:

Samuel having school with his birthday presents:

In science, we made a model of blood using Karo syrup, red hots, white jelly beans and sprinkles.

Flying airplanes for North Carolina day:

Finally, we crushed iron fortified cereal and used a magnet to pull out the iron particles.

A pretty busy week of school with not a lot of interruptions so that was nice!
