Last Week of School

Our last week of school!

We finished up science projects:

We had 8th grade graduation:

Nathan got a certificate for finishing his math book:

We learned about the Oregon Trail and played a game.  Hunter easily won twice so I guess he's prepared.  :)

All the kids got a book for summer reading and Nathan read his right away.  This picture is taken at our pizza celebration picnic!

Lily wrote a poem about summer.  I'll type it up at the bottom because it's kind of hard to read.

In other news, Nathan got 1st place in district races this weekend!!  Woo hoo!

Summer by Lily Kreger

Summer is...
Delicious, freezing ice cream that gives you brain freeze
Scorching, fiery concrete that burns your feet
Serene, untameable pools to swim in
Fantastic floaty forms that are magnificent
Bright, golden warmth of the sun

Summer is...
People getting painful sunburns while getting a bronze tan
People belting out songs in gorgeous swimsuits

I thought she did great using a poem model we had studied earlier and making it her own.  :)  That's the end of the school year!  My goal is for the boys to continue reading lessons and Lily to continue her math lessons throughout the summer but we'll see how that goes.  Lily will read without encouragement so no problem there!  Happy Summer!

Week 36

Wrapping up math...we're just reviewing and playing games because he's finished his lessons!

Our carrot tops and beans grew!

My nephew graduated so we celebrated him this weekend!

Not a lot of pictures but we've been busy!  We have 4 days of school left and an 8th grade graduation party so it will be a full week!!!

Week 35

This week, Samuel was uncooperative during school time so I set aside his work for the evening when his Dad was home.  He didn't enjoy that as much so he was much more cooperative the rest of the week.  :)

Nathan working with money--he's almost done with his reviews for the end of his math book.

Lily working on her writing assignments.

Hunter, Lily, Brian and I enjoyed playing a new game called "5 minutes in the dungeon".

Working with the microscope during science.

This kid!  He had uncontrollable laughter at some of the microscope slides.  You can ask him why!

Lily picking slides she wants to view.

Samuel working on spelling contractions:

Mother's Day fun!!  My favorite day!

9 more days of school!!!

Week 34

This week we had a field trip to Mt. Trashmore, which is an outdoor hike on the old landfill.  However, a thunderstorm, with hail, hit while we were on the hike so we had to turn around.  We got soaked!!  It was Samuel's favorite field trip.  Ha!  Brian had the day off anyway so we enjoyed some family time.

Also this week, we had a day of shopping for the oldest 2 kiddos.  They needed summer clothes since they don't get hand me downs.  The other two kids stayed with my Dad all day.

This weekend, Brian was home to do a lot of the weekend chores that this weather brings.

Well, no pictures of actual school work but we did get accomplish plenty!  This week is jam packed with work so I'm looking forward to continuing to wrap things up.
