Week 29 + Easter

This week in school, Hunter and I did some games and review because we are learning some spelling rules and it's a lot for him to remember.  He can read the words but spelling them is another thing, which seems less important right now.

We started our science unit on the nervous system so we've been using clay to model different parts as we learn about them.

Nathan baked cookies to finish off our C unit.  We'll be moving through the rest of the letters more quickly because we are running out of time!

Samuel and I played a game similar to Go Fish but the pairs had to equal 10.

We had Friday off of school and the Easter preparations began.  We dyed eggs and Lily had a whole beauty routine to get through.  :)

Everyone looked so nice for Easter!

Lots of egg hunts but it never stops being exciting!!

Week 28

We celebrated 100 days of school this week, even though we hit 100 last week.  The year is flying by and we seem to be making good progress on all of our subjects.  I'm already looking (and buying!) for next year.  Some tidbits I want to remember about this year:  Samuel tells me frequently that he loves all of his school--I feel like his math program is a perfect fit!! Also, Lily often does her assigned independent work the night before so she can have a lazier morning.  So, there shouldn't be homework but she gives herself some!  :)

Nathan made purple cows for our "C is for Cow" lesson.

He works pretty hard on writing those letters!!

We made a stethoscope this week to finish off our cardiovascular unit.  You had to be really quiet to hear the sound but it worked!

On Saturday, we cheered Lily on for her pinewood derby race!

Week 27

Some family fun at Red Robins before the week begins!

Kindergarten with Nathan.  Always a fun time!

He's struggling a bit with rhyming so we spent some extra time with my special rhyming kit!

Samuel is still making great progress with Explode the Code online:

Hunter reading some stories:

Lily getting a look at her pulse for science:

Pottery class ended and they had a great time making masterpieces:

No spring break for us this week...we will have a day off for various things for the next few weeks so we'll enjoy some school days without extra running around this week!!

Week 26

This week started with a fever for Brian so he got to stay home and experience a day of school with us.  The kids enjoyed it even if he wasn't feeling the greatest.  :)

Nathan started G for Goat this week.  His animal friends watched him color some finger puppets:

Nathan prefers to write the words instead of cutting and gluing!

Hunter has been busy reading his Minecraft novel for fun.  His reading program insists on no outside reading but, of course, if they WANT to read, it's fine.  This is the 1st time he's picked up a book to read.  It's so nice to see!!!

Lily typed up her English story instead of rewriting it.  She liked it better and the typing practice is necessary!!

It was a busy week with dental appointments, vision therapy, pottery, play practice....  These weeks are really full but we're fitting in schoolwork and I think they're all doing really well!!
