Week 37

Nathan finished up R for Rock and started J for Jewel this week.
Math activities:

Making a volcano:

The cat is always happy to support school time.  :)

Samuel and Kermit playing math games.

School outside for this beautiful weather we've been having!!

Hunter drew an eyeball while I was reading about the eye in science.  :)

Using a slinky to learn about sound waves in science:

We finished our Candymakers book (450+ pages!!) so it seemed obvious to have the kids design their own candy creation!

Legendary Candy by Samuel: gingerbread, chocolate, bubblegum, candycane and frosting
Flandy by Lily: candy that looks and smells like flowers but once you put it in your mouth, it turns into cookie dough and then gum
Chocolate Bar by Nathan: sour, colored gingerbread chocolate bar
Power Up by Hunter: gives energy, makes you talk loud and lasts 1 hour, has taffy and gum ingredients

Lily finished up American Heritage Girls and got several badges, which she's so excited about!!

We celebrated my niece's graduation this weekend!!  1 more week of school for us!

Week 36

This week we are learning about our senses in science.  Lily is smelling our bottle of vanilla by waving her hand in front of the bottle.

Samuel and I played some Go Fish but the matches had to equal 10.  It's a fun way to work on those facts.

Nathan built some R words with blocks.

He also collected rocks with Hunter because we'll use the rocks next week for some activities.

We had a farm field trip this week!  It was packed and cold so that was a bummer.  We did get to pet a lot of fun animals: lamb, piglet, chick, baby duck....

The kids' favorite was Daisy the farm dog, though.  Ha!

2 more weeks of school!

Week 35

Another busy week!
Hunter has been working hard on learning spelling rules.  He's reading great but the spelling is more challenging.  This program works, though!!

Nathan missed a couple days of school this week due to never-ending illness.  He made a zebra this day, though!

I've added the Times Tales stories to Hunter's math and he hates it but I think it's helping.  :) A lot of memory work for him right now and that's a challenge for him.

The cat was freaking out this day and biting Samuel when he tried to do his handwriting.  :)

Butterflies!!  It's always fun to get caterpillars and watch them change.

On Saturday, Lily and Brian had a father/daughter dance.  They had tons of fun and they looked great!

Week 34

We had a busy week last week!  We got to hear the orchestra and see a ballet on Monday.  It was also fun walking around downtown, trying to figure out where we were going.  :)

We were home for regular schoolwork, too!  Nathan finished up the letter K with this cute craft:

We went to the dam and fossil gorge but it was cold and rainy.  Ugh!  Still a fun day, though, and we got to see 3 deer in the gorge!!

Our homeschool classes at the assistance building ended for the year.  Lily loved dissection and was happy to bring home frog eyeballs!
