Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday

Monday was the start of celebrations!!  Brian worked his last day of the calendar year and I met with our supervising teacher to wrap up things for the first half of our school year.  Then, we moved right along...1st thing up was building a gingerbread house:

Tuesday was Christmas Eve and we celebrated with pizzas for lunch:

A few presents from Mom and Dad:

Even the cat got some treats and toys:

And then we dressed up to celebrate with the Kreger side:

Enjoying a yummy meal before presents:

We were back home to get into our new jammies and head to bed:

Nathan did get Christmas pajamas like the others but he also received these Spiderman pajamas and he LOVED them and insisted on wearing them instead.  :)

Christmas morning is so exciting!

Samuel was the 1st one up so he got to go first this year.  We started with socks, for a change.

We then moved on to presents.  Nathan moved around to check out what everyone got even though we opened one at a time so we could all see what was inside each gift!!

Grandma Barb got toy fish for the kids and the cat was fascinated:

Our next Christmas celebration was on the 28th with the Pettyjohn side:

The wait to open presents and wait your turn got a little long for some people:

Samuel enjoyed his Doctor Dreadful organ grinder kit from Uncle Derek and Aunt Melissa:

Brian was patiently helping Lily use her fashion design kit:

And, we moved right along to Nathan's 4th Birthday on the 29th.  Quite a whirlwind of events!!

We have a few more days to enjoy Brian's vacation and then it's back to work and I'll have to get the house and school plans in order!!

More Christmas Fun

Our last full week of school this month!  So exciting!!  We have definitely been taking it easy this month and it will probably be a shock to buckle down next month.  :)

Nathan only had a couple days of school this week due to his never-ending cough and sleepless nights.  We did an angel craft and a wise men craft--we were working our way through the nativity pieces but that's all we got to.  :)

Samuel enjoyed his Christmas-themed worksheets.  He likes to get it done quickly without any extra frills.

The twins continued with their Celebrate the Savior unit study.  We have finished our Jesus baby book and are working on Christmas around the world crafts.  It keeps us busy!  Only 3 lessons left!

We also did some baking this week.  On Sunday, we made our annual Christmas sugar cookies with Brian.  He rolls dough better than me so I depend on him for this tradition:

Instead of Christmas sprinkles, I got each child a bottle of colored sugar in their favorite color.  They were very bright and pretty!

At the end of the week, we did a science experiment about snow (really, it was just growing "snow") and then made snowball surprise cookies.

Christmas Curriculum

The Christmas fun has arrived here!!  We've been busy, busy with Christmas themed activities all week.  Brian and I were the main sewers but we did make a new tree skirt.  Here are some helpers:

Finished product (don't look closely):

Nathan had some 'J is for Jesus' work this week:

Samuel did a lot of the usual work but I added some Christmas sheets, as well.

For the twins, we are doing a Notgrass unit study (can't remember the name but it's the Christmas study).  It's been a lot of fun.

An ice fishing science experiment:

Hunter wondering if we'll ever be done with crafts:

We also finally got out our Bethlehem game this week.  Brian and I bought this at the homeschool conference this summer but we've made the kids wait to play it.  It was a lot of fun and they loved it!!

*Hunter had to sit on a lap until his next turn:

*Lily had to wear a towel on her head until her next turn:

*Brian had to sit on a lap until his next turn:

*Hunter had to wear socks on his hands until he rolled a 4...he hated this!!!

Last full week of school this week!!!  More fun to be had!!
