Week 6

This week was pretty busy so we had a lot of half days of work.  We had dental appointments and school pictures on Monday.  We then went out to eat and shopping with my Mom.  We did fit in our read aloud, though!  Then, gymnastics and art class and eye appointment....it was something every day, it seemed.

Science experiment day!  We finished up the unit on air.

For our art at home, we always do a drawing lesson (for older kids) and a fun project (for younger kids).  However, for a variety of reasons, the younger two missed out on a fun project this week.  Oh well, the older two had fun painting leaves with shaving cream and paint!

Reading stories in Barton:

Working on a flyer for history:

This looks like a school day but it is Saturday!  They are all playing in the same minecraft world.

We aren't as busy this week before a really busy week again so I hope to be productive!!

Week 5

Science experiments are so frustrating some weeks!  We did 3 this week and maybe 2 worked but it wasn't too thrilling.  At least we are trying!

Nathan and I played Go Fish but matches were numbers that equaled 10.

Samuel's dog joined math this day:

The twins took over baking this week--the only thing I did was put it in and out of the oven.  Otherwise, I stayed out of the kitchen!!

Samuel called me outside to get a picture of the hummingbird that visits our zinnias!  So fun!

We started a new read aloud but I don't think it's that great, not sure the kids love it.  We finished our first science book so we  will have a project on that coming up!

Week 4

Nathan and his big penguin learning math:

Samuel and I playing a math game:

We attempted to build a longhouse but gave up.  At least we got to eat the leftover spice drops!

Mixing primary colors in art, using hot wheels! Messy and fun!

Lily got her braces off so that was the biggest news this week!!

Science experiments...again, we had some fails but overall,we're enjoying this weekly time.

Friday is relaxed school and I let these 2 play Scribblenauts because they successfully convinced me it was educational because it involves reading and spelling. :)

We finished our 1st read aloud (Sign of the Beaver) and did a compare/contrast activity at the end.  We're excited to start another book next week!

Week 3

Monday was Labor Day so we went to a Pirate party instead of having school.  :)

Right back it on Tuesday, though.  The cat hates that we gather on the floor so here she is, probably thinking about jumping on Hunter's head and biting him.  He's working on cursive.

We took a walk one morning that was so cool and fall-like.

Science experiment Wednesdays!  We finished up our water experiments.

Nathan is moving along with the Barton program.  He worked on spelling, but I had the tiles out (on ipad) for him to reference.

The cat does love us, too!  She's licking Samuel to death here.  :)

Art class!  We are working on drawing lessons and art projects once a week.  It's been fun!

Running to the nearest pokestop!

Samuel working on his doubles facts, with a smile!  :)

Week 2

I paid for an app, which I hate to do, to help Hunter review multiplication facts before his math quiz.  He loved the app, he completed the whole story line in his free time!  And got a 95% on his quiz!

We made a mid-week trip to the library:

Nathan is adjusting well to starting Barton, like his brothers:

Weekly science experiments!  I feel like these experiments are hit and miss but the kids enjoy them.  They used water as glue:

And watched sugar cubes paint:

 PE was swimming this week:

We are reading the best science book where we learn about scientists' lives and it's fascinating!  This day we learned about Pasteur and then in history, we did a project where we learned how a food gets to us.  We chose ice cream and pasteurization was part of the process--it all went together so well.
