Week 9

This was an eventful week.  On Monday, Nathan had some dental work done so Brian took the day off and we spent some time at the park:

On Tuesday, we had our annual visit to Bloomsbury Farms.  The kids wanted to do the jumping balloon 1st thing, which is good because after that, Hunter was miserable the rest of the time.

Nathan feeding a goat:

They have to stop for pictures for me!

We get this picture every year!

Trying the corn maze--this always stresses me out!  Ha!

Samuel riding his "horse" backwards.

Hunter and I hung out in the shade while everyone else had fun.

Making Hunter pose for one more picture:

We got home from the field trip and realized Hunter had a fever.  We took him to urgent care and eventually found out he had strep.  Poor guy!  He missed a couple days of school but was able to listen in on our read aloud, at least.

Some schoolwork we did accomplish... We are reading a book about microbiology for science.  We have an experiment going but nothing is happening yet.  The 1st piece is our test bread, placed in the bag using sterile gloves and sprayed with water.  The 2nd piece we passed around so everyone got to touch it and put germs on it, then in the bag and sprayed.  The 3rd piece was just touched by Lily AFTER she washed her hands, in the bag and sprayed after that.  So, we'll see what we grow! Especially with the sickness we've combated this week!

In history, the kids had to name their own colony and set rules for it.  Each one shows much about that child's personality!  Ha!

Samuel's is called "Poopland" and the rules are to wipe and flush.

Hunter's is called "Hunterland" and the only rule is to not kill animals.

Nathan's is called "The Best Land of All Time" and the rules are no WWE, no pets--only cats and no cutting down trees.

Finally, Lily's land is called "The Bonair Colony" and the rules are pictured below (hopefully, you can click the picture to enlarge and read).  There was 20 rules so too many to list but examples are to not be rude to pirates, no chewing loudly, no taxes--only donations.  :)

Nathan has a stomach bug now so I'm hoping this weekend gives us all a chance to rest and recover!!
