Christmas Break

Christmas break was full of presents, family activities and rest. Nathan also had his birthday!! We are preparing for back to school on Wednesday this upcoming week.

 

Week 17

 We had 2 days of school this week to finish things up for Christmas break! They had a science lab with Brian before they were free! On to enjoying the holidays !!

Week 16

Nathan said he wants pictures of his unenthused face in all his school pictures.  Haha!  Anyway, we had a science lab this week but I wasn’t able to take pictures of the process so this is a picture of the finished product.  It’s a soft robot grabber.  

The boys finished their art projects this week.  Wintery trees with a wintery background.

We had a very full load of work this week as we finish things for Christmas break.  2 more days of school to wrap up units and papers and books!!  Then, the boys will start their focus on a clean room for the holidays!  

Week 15

 

No school pictures this week but plenty of Christmas activity pictures! We finished our sugar cookies and had a fun night of Christmas lights. Poor Lily was diagnosed with pneumonia this week but she was a trooper. 

We had a short week of school, focusing on wrapping up things for the Christmas break. We also had a visit from our supervising teacher. The kids were off school for a long weekend at my parents’ house so I could finish up shopping and then have a full day of wrapping! One more full week of school so we should keep busy this week.

Week 14

This week started out with the best intentions.  I had planned out the work we’d accomplish before Christmas break but I’ve already had to make changes.  We still got a lot of progress on most things.  We started a month-long art project this week.  Brian did a science lab with the boys but Samuel dropped out after an hour!!  ha!  It took too long but they got the robotic arm to work using hydraulic power.  All 3 boys got the Christmas tree decorated.  Lily didn’t want to join us in that tradition this year.  We’ll all be gathered making cookies this weekend, though!  I have some tweaks to next week’s school work but we’ll keep loading our days to finish up some units before break!!

 

Thanksgiving Week

 

I had planned a couple days of school this week but Samuel ended up catching a nasty stomach bug. We ended up just taking the week off. We’ve enjoyed the time off to decorate for Christmas, sleep in (the boys, at least) and prepare for a few weeks of school before the next break!!

Week 12

This week must have been exhausting because I got a lot of pictures of kids sleeping with pets. The boys finished their art class! We started a new read aloud, which has been a nice change. Just a couple more days of school until Thanksgiving break. The most exciting event of the week was the big birthday!! Hunter and Lily are 20! I can barely believe it!!
 

Week 11

 The boys had 2 science labs this week so that was exciting.  I did one with them.  We made a robot hand.  Brian did the other with them and it was some sort of walking “robot”.  Nathan completed Level 8 Barton but I didn’t have the certificate and I already returned the book.  Whoops!  So, he just smiled for me and got his prize (a computer game).  They also had an art class at the homeschool building this week.  They seem to enjoy that a lot so we’ll have to sign up for more of those.  We finally finished our 1st read aloud of the year.  We will be changing up Language Arts next week so that will be fun.  We do have a short week next week but more on that next time.

Week 10

Halloween week! We did pumpkins on Sunday with my niece, the kids had art class Monday and on Tuesday we did just math and read aloud before Halloween fun! Samuel got his license on Tuesday, as well. Finally, we had some regular days the rest of the week. It didn’t feel like a productive week but I guess we’re entering that season!

 

Week 9

 I didn’t take any school pictures this week so here are two pics the students took! Nathan took a selfie and Sam snapped a pic of this tree.  I love both! 

The boys started their Marion art class and they seemed to really enjoy it! Samuel made a comment that their “morning work” has increased and that is true! I’m trying to give them more independent work for various reasons. It has been going well so far!

Week 8

 

This week, we had a field trip to Bloomsbury.  We’ve gone for 11 years, I believe!  It’s changed a lot and this is the 1st year we’ve had only 2 kids with us.  They had fun (Nathan may not look happy in a couple pics but that is just his picture pose) overall.  The boys also had a science lab with Brian this week.  They made a solenoid.  Otherwise, it was the usual work.  They wrote a paragraph about their eyes and hair so we have a lot of close up pictures of eyes now.  Ha!  

Week 7

 This week has been productive! We did have a field trip that was postponed to this upcoming Monday. We did a fun Halloween art project and Samuel completed book 9 of Barton! He only has one more left!!! It’s amazing!
