Week 35

This week, Samuel was uncooperative during school time so I set aside his work for the evening when his Dad was home.  He didn't enjoy that as much so he was much more cooperative the rest of the week.  :)

Nathan working with money--he's almost done with his reviews for the end of his math book.

Lily working on her writing assignments.

Hunter, Lily, Brian and I enjoyed playing a new game called "5 minutes in the dungeon".

Working with the microscope during science.

This kid!  He had uncontrollable laughter at some of the microscope slides.  You can ask him why!

Lily picking slides she wants to view.

Samuel working on spelling contractions:

Mother's Day fun!!  My favorite day!

9 more days of school!!!

Week 34

This week we had a field trip to Mt. Trashmore, which is an outdoor hike on the old landfill.  However, a thunderstorm, with hail, hit while we were on the hike so we had to turn around.  We got soaked!!  It was Samuel's favorite field trip.  Ha!  Brian had the day off anyway so we enjoyed some family time.

Also this week, we had a day of shopping for the oldest 2 kiddos.  They needed summer clothes since they don't get hand me downs.  The other two kids stayed with my Dad all day.

This weekend, Brian was home to do a lot of the weekend chores that this weather brings.

Well, no pictures of actual school work but we did get accomplish plenty!  This week is jam packed with work so I'm looking forward to continuing to wrap things up.

Week 33

Read aloud is pretty exciting around here, as you can see from these 2 pics.  At least 2 boys fall asleep most days.  It's actually a pretty exciting book but they're tired!

On Tuesday, we traveled to Des Moines to visit Salisbury House and the State Historic Museum.

We saw a glimpse of the Capitol:

In science this week, we built a telescope.

We had a short week because Brian took Friday off so we could celebrate his birthday with just the 6 of us.  His actual birthday was Sunday and we had a party for him and our niece.

Week 32

I feel like we are finishing up some things for the school year.  Nathan had his 1st assessment in his math book to finish up his level.  We also finished our science book but we still have our experiment book to get through.

Samuel and I played addition bingo and neither of us won!  ha!

Hunter and I worked on our schwa rules for his reading/spelling rules.  It's getting complex but he's getting it!

Playing school-approved apps with the cat:

It's been a stressful week and I needed a kitchen break one night.  We went out to Carlos O'Kelly's but half the kids didn't like their meals so we probably won't take them there again.

Week 31

I am getting horrible at taking pictures but we are getting lots of school done!!

I don't know how I missed Hunter in my pics but we did a science experiment with static electricity.  Everyone had fun!

Here's Hunter in his room...with the cat.  :)  He's hiding from the camera.  Ha!

Samuel's natural state--he's a gamer.  :)

Some cousin time this week!

Happy Easter! + Week 30

Easter was a fun time and we had a long weekend to enjoy it.

I just snapped this picture because I was thought it was a funny--all the boys gathered!

Legos are overtaking the kitchen table right now.  They spent their money on more Legos so we have all sorts of things set up that no one can move!!

The twins had class at the homeschool building and neither were thrilled.  Ha!  They'll stick with the art class and I'm sure once they start painting, everyone will enjoy it.

My new favorite picture.  :)

Nathan wanted to run while reading on this day

Not many school pics but we did have 4 days, albeit interrupted by dental appointments and gymnastics, etc.  No science experiments this week so we'll have a few next week.

Week 29

We had a 4-day school week and we got lots done!!

Nathan is starting to learn about fractions and he thinks he is the fraction master!

Lily is ready for math but Cinders wants attention.

Hunter is playing school-approved games while he waits.

We learned about gluten and had a fun experiment!!

Nathan is spelling with his rules nearby.  Barton is going great for all the boys!!

Electrical experiments:

Samuel taking selfies when I'm not around.  :)  I was happy because he never wants his picture taken during school.

Cinders loves her Lily!!  :)

We dyed Easter eggs on Friday to get ready for Easter weekend.
We have Monday off, as well, for the holiday weekend.  I can't believe it's the last 2 months of school already!!
